Musical Fitness Assessment

FIT BY FIVE !
Children who are musically “fit” by age five will be better readers.

WHAT IS MUSICAL FITNESS?
Children who can keep a steady beat, clap the rhythm of the words of a song, tell the difference between high and low pitches, match pitches with their voices, and sing in tune have enabled their auditory processing. These foundational brain abilities are highly correlated with better reading achievement.

WHY ASSESS CHILDREN’S BASIC MUSICAL SKILLS?
Now that science has shown that music skills enable the brain for reading and learning, it makes sense to track how each child is progressing in developing them.
